Naming Baby

We would like to take a second to talk to you about when you pick out a name for your baby. Most couples usually buy a book full of names which is a very good idea to give them some inspiration. I think we have all done that ourselves.

Some couples prefer to stick with tradional names that perhaps have been passed down through the family generation after generation.

There has been quite a bit in the press lately about how couples like to name their little one with an unusual name or perhaps a famous name from a group they like or an actor.

Obviously you do what you want to and we wouldn’t say to do anything else – but we would like to add a word of caution. Please don’t forget this little bundle in your arms is going to have to live with this name for the whole of their lives, which we hope will be a very long time indeed.

Once they get to school age their piers can make life very difficult for them and they can suffer an awful lot of bullying etc and general unhappiness if you were to choose a really unusual name.

Besides actually starting a family of your own – the naming your little one is probably the most important thing you will ever do – the decision is entirely in your hands, so make sure you really give it a lot of thought – be kind remember they will be the one’s who will have to live with it.

Naming Baby

There has been a lot in the press recently about the name you choose for your little one. It seems for the last 2 – 3 years the trend has been to give your little one as quirky a name as possible, or to choose a famous star or celebrity.

Now finally we are getting back to normal. It seems that now the trend is for normal names like Bob or Max or Elizabeth etc. Names that never really go out of style. They are easy to remember, some don’t even need to be shortened, if you do then they at least make some sense, and they are good solid names that will stand the test of time.

A lot of parents to be choose names and then whittle it down to a handful, then wait, until baby is born. You may well find out that once you see them the name you have previously picked out for them does not seem suitable once they are in your arms. So it is always worth thinking of a few and then maybe one will just fit, so to speak.

Remember, they have a lifetime with their name, school, work people who don’t love them as much as you do, and will find any old excuse to pick on them… so think carefully about what name you give them it can be wonderful thing  or a huge burden, and you wouldn’t want that.

Naming Baby

There is a lot in the press at the moment about how people are going about choosing a name for their little one. A lot of people are swayed by a particular famous person. Maybe they have a crush on a hollywood actor or actress, and so choose their name when they have a baby. Example ( Ava Gardner was supposed to be a beautiful women – and admired by women the world over today, so when some-one gives birth to a little girl they name them Ava ).

Some people prefer to give their baby a name that will stand out from the crowd, and is more quirky.

The only thing to consider when thinking about a name for your little one is when they go to school and work what sort of life are they going to have if you give them a name that means they will most definately be picked on for many years to come by the piers.

Buy a book of babies names, think carefully how it can be shortened and what other children could abbreviate it to… remember children and adults can be cruel. You don’t want to land your son or daughter with a lifetime of misery.

If your baby is born around Xmas time and it is a girl some people like to call it Holly. Now that sort of thing you can get away with.

Advice:  Think very carefully about this decision – your son or daughter is going to have to live this for the rest of their lives… try to be kind.
