You have nine whole months to think between you of a suitable name. Whether you have chosen to know the sex of the baby or not there are thousands of books out there for you to read through, loads of sites on the web that will give you tons of ideas, magazines and celebritites whose names you like are another favourite so you would think that this would be a piece of cake.

Wrong, you could not be more wrong….

Nine months flies by with so many things to do and get ready for, plus many days you are not feeling good or upto the tasks in hand.

You and partner could disagree, this is probably bound to happen and you should expect it.

Just remember one small thing, the child you are carrying inside you know is going to live with this name for the rest of it’s life, and siblings and piers can make peoples lives hell and be terribly wicked and unkind if you go and stick it with a totally unsuitable name.

So if your husband loves a certain football team as an example – don’t let him have his way and call the baby arsenal as an example.

The same goes for you, you may love lady gag but don’t go and call your duaghter by this name, remember the poor liitle thing has got to go to school, can you imagine playtime urgh! sends a shudder down the spine.

This is one of the biggest decisions you will make together, so take your time, even if baby has been born and you still cannot find a name do not rush it – one will come to you that is suitable we guarantee it.

It will be well worth the wait – from someone who knows!

As you may have read in yesterdays newspapers the name Muhammed has become the most popular name for a baby boy in Britain.

With Oliver and then Jack following up the rear.

For the girls it is Olivia that is the most popular. Being in the baby business when customers have their babies we get to hear all sorts of unusual names, and it seems to us that the old tradional names have just disappered, and perhaps it is time for this change to happen.

Most of the ladies who work here have all got grown up children, but we did muse the other day over what we would call a baby into days world. We did get back some funny responses.

It seems men shy away from naming baby – don’t know why, it is his just as much as it is yours.

Perhaps they don’t wont the blame if baby doesn’t like their name when they grow up.

A lot of decisions it seems settle on the shoulders of a lot of mums. Let’s hope that more men learn it is a life lessen for two people bringing another human being into the world and looking after it.

If you are in the happy position of expecting an edition to your family, then remember you do have nien months so there is no rush, but remember to choose a name for baby that they will be proud to carry around with them for the rest of their lives….. which hopefully will be a long long time.

We would like to send our congratulations to Natalie Cassidy and her Partner on the safe arrival of their gorgeous daughter Eliza Beatrice.

Finally, someone normal who has not decided to give their little lamb a fashionable horrendous name, but something lovely that will serve her well through her life. Well done Natalie.

She looks absolutely blooming, as do you by the way.

It has become power for the cause nowadays to name your child after a celebrity or even a flower or something more stupid.

Finally a celebrity herself has the good choice to give her a sturdy proper name she can grow up and be proud of.

We sincerely urge all parents to be to give tremendous thought to this subject ( you have got nine months to think about after all! ).

Your child is going to have to live with this forever, and you don’t want to make school and work even harder for them than it already is do you by giving them a name that will torment them and will be perfect for the scholl bully to pick on them forever…….

We strongly suggest you buy a book of names and have a good look through – you may be surprised at what you find, hopefully something will grab your mind that you hadn’t even contemplated.

We would like to offer our sincere Congratulations to Jamies and Jools Oliver on the birth of their new son. They have both longed for a son, so they must be over the moon.

Well done you two!!

As usual with celebrity couples they often choose unusual names for their children and Jamie is no different.

Although there is nothing actually wrong with this – we do urge the rest of you to think long and hard about the sort of name tag that your son or daughter is going to have to carry around with them all their lives.

School, college or even university. Getting a job. Family and friends even, if the name is obscure enough they will be in for a lifetime of misery – so do make sure you give it tons of thought.

A lot of people don’t actually like their own name and when they are old enough they change it by deed poll. You wouldn’t want them to be that upset would you.

Although going for family names used to be the thing to do – it has all changed now, and couples tend to want something modern and fresh and we think that is a fantastic idea.

Also while we are on the subject of names think about the lettering. Remember your surname. Does it make up a word that they will get picked on a lot for?

You have nine months to give this subject a lot of thought, so make sure that you do, we urge you, because at the end of the day all everyone wants is a happy healthy baby that loves himself or herself in everyway.

It is all the thing to do name your baby after your favourite football star, celebrity or perhaps your favourite city or town. We just want to say – please remember to give tons of thought over the 9 months you have to think long and hard about this one.

Of course you may well be fed up with the old tried and faithfull names that have been used in your family before, and you feel it is time for a complete modern upto date change and freshen things up a bit. Great…

However, remember when they are old enough to start going to school, which seems stupid to even think of at this stage, they haven’t even been born yet! – time will run on soooo quickly you will turn around one day and look at them in their school uniform ready for their first day and wonder where the time has gone really.

When they get into the playground they will start to get all the usual hassle, and as much as schools try and stop bullying this sort of name calling etc. does and will continue to go on, so please give a lot of time to considering the name of your little one, they will carry this around with them for the rest of their lives, and you want them to be happy – we know you do.

We would like to touch on this subject for a moment. A lot of couples prepare a few names for their impending new arrival ( especially if they happen to know the sex of their baby ) and then wait until it is born. Sometimes when you meet that special little bundle for the very first time and you think of the names you have chosen they just don’t fit the bundle in your arms.

So back to the drawing board you go.

This is such a personal subject. Some people like to keep it in the family so to speak and choose names from past and favourite people. Others prefer to choose fresh and modern names.

Some couples go for sports or famous celebrities. We here at Baby2You don’t think you can go wrong. There is no right or wrong it is entirely upto you two.

There is just one ity bity thing – we would strongly recommend ( and that is all it is ) that you don’t choose some off the map name. A lot of people that do the child grows up and later in life you find out that they hated it, often changing their name as they grow into an adult. Plus they get an awful lot of flack for it at school and college etc. and no one wants to do that to their children.

No matter how unusual you care to go remenber – it is not you who is going to have to put up with all the torment of a funny name. Many people just can’t handle it and go off the rails so to speak, and that is the last thing anyone would want for their son or daughter.

So make sure that you think long and hard about the name they are going to carry around with them for the rest of their lives, and make sure you think it suits them.

This is only our personal recommendation – the final decision is entirely upto you folks.

There is a lot to be said about naming your baby. When you are young a lot of us get impressed easily by celebrities and how they live their lives so if they call their baby by a certain name it then becomes all the thing to do. What you need to think about ( and with nine long months you have enough time! ) that fashions and trends change all the time.

Once your little one start school will they get picked on all the time with the name you have given them?

Will it lose it edge further down the line say when they are 20 years old – think about how it will sound then.

A lot of thought has to be put into a name. You hardly want to call it Alf or Mildred as these are such old fashioned names, however calling it lady ga ga or some such idea is a silly one.

No matter what is going on in the world at the moment you have to realise that this is the name they are going to carry with them all around the world for the rest of their lives, so try to make it a good one.

A lot of couples go for family names like mothers or fathers which is fine, unless they have been handed down from generation to generation then chances are they are a bit too old fashioned for now adays.

This is such a personal decision – and it is only yours to make but just trying to help and give obvious advice try not to go mad your son or daughter might just hate it!

We are turning our attention today to how you choose the name of your little one. A lot of couples like to go out and buy books on the subject. This is a fantastic idea. Some people prefer to name their little one after a family member. Again there is just is no wrong way to do this task, except one.

We would strongly recommend that you think long and hard about naming your little munchkin something shall we say way out!

There is a tendancy nowadays to name a baby after a famous car or football team or anyother silly idea.

A lot of very young mums tend to like a particular person in the film star or singing line and then choose something like this for their baby.

Just a word of caution – obviously it is completely and only your choice, but remember the life you are carrying around inside you now will have to live with your decision for the rest of their lives. As they grow up and go to school etc. other children can be down right horrible, and torment other children in the first place, but if you choose to give them a really silly name then they are off to a flying start arn’t they!

So please keep in mind that you want the very best out of life for your little one, so be kind and give them a name they will be proud to use and carry around forever.

We would like to take a second to talk to you about when you pick out a name for your baby. Most couples usually buy a book full of names which is a very good idea to give them some inspiration. I think we have all done that ourselves.

Some couples prefer to stick with tradional names that perhaps have been passed down through the family generation after generation.

There has been quite a bit in the press lately about how couples like to name their little one with an unusual name or perhaps a famous name from a group they like or an actor.

Obviously you do what you want to and we wouldn’t say to do anything else – but we would like to add a word of caution. Please don’t forget this little bundle in your arms is going to have to live with this name for the whole of their lives, which we hope will be a very long time indeed.

Once they get to school age their piers can make life very difficult for them and they can suffer an awful lot of bullying etc and general unhappiness if you were to choose a really unusual name.

Besides actually starting a family of your own – the naming your little one is probably the most important thing you will ever do – the decision is entirely in your hands, so make sure you really give it a lot of thought – be kind remember they will be the one’s who will have to live with it.

Top five names for girls are:

1. Ava

2. Grace

3. Amy

4. Emily

6. Alex

Top 5 Boys Names:

1. Jake

2. John

There has been a lot in the press recently about the name you choose for your little one. It seems for the last 2 – 3 years the trend has been to give your little one as quirky a name as possible, or to choose a famous star or celebrity.

Now finally we are getting back to normal. It seems that now the trend is for normal names like Bob or Max or Elizabeth etc. Names that never really go out of style. They are easy to remember, some don’t even need to be shortened, if you do then they at least make some sense, and they are good solid names that will stand the test of time.

A lot of parents to be choose names and then whittle it down to a handful, then wait, until baby is born. You may well find out that once you see them the name you have previously picked out for them does not seem suitable once they are in your arms. So it is always worth thinking of a few and then maybe one will just fit, so to speak.

Remember, they have a lifetime with their name, school, work people who don’t love them as much as you do, and will find any old excuse to pick on them… so think carefully about what name you give them it can be wonderful thing or a huge burden, and you wouldn’t want that.
