Once your little angel finally lands on their feet, you are going to need 10 pairs of hands and six pairs of eyes.

In other words you are going to need to think about safety. In the world today you are lucky because there are so many gadgets and gizmose for baby.

Not just safety gates now but tons of latches and things for cupboards, the cooker etc.

It is much simpler if you don’t allow baby in the kitchen when cooking. Put a gate up in the doorway and then when you have done the washing up etc and everything is back to being safe, baby can re-enter that area. It is a dangerous area in the first place especially if you cooking, you need to be able to concentrate on what you are doint.

You will need to get a pen and paper and go round the house writing down everything – everywhere and then dgo out and purchase the lot and make your home as baby proof as you can.

You don’t want any accidents we are sure.

Put away the pretty delicate ornaments or glass objects, bring them out in a few years time, when baby is older.

Next subject is Baby Clothes and Baby Gift Sets

The safety of your baby is paramount. With all the advances they have made over the years you can protect your little one in a fun way without them them even understanding most of the time.

You can get a temperature read out now for the bath water and lots of other items for the bath.

Safety gates have been improved massively over the years so these will look nicer in your home and still keep baby/toddler away from the kitchen area which is of course very dangerous for them to be in on their own.

Seat belts in cars is old news – but with the new child seats and babies car seats, shades and dozens of other items you can have baby can be well protected once again when you go out and about.

The same with buggies and prams. Great strides have been made in these areas as well – so much so that very few accidents should occur as you should be very well covered – both of you actually you and your little one.

Be it in the home – or out and about most manufacturers seem to have thought about most areas of safety and covered it for you. Of course the hardest part is you finding the money to pay for all of these things – which is of course something we cannot help you with - sorry!

Over one million Infantino Baby Slings have been re-called. If you use one of these products then take it straight back to the shop that you purchased it in and they should exchange it for you.

We are sure you have read in the news that these items have been recalled due to 3 babies deaths.

A lot of parent like the idea of these slings as it gives you free hands to be able to push the trolley around the supermarket or do anything that you particularly need to use your hands for whilst safe in the knowledge that your little one is close to you.

Unfortunately the idea is sound, but the practice still needs some work done on it.

As these products are being recalled by the manufacturer you can tell this is most definately a health risk to your baby and if you use one STOP using it now! The last thing we all want is any deaths or accidents from babies equipment.

This is quite a surprise in the industry, as the brand Infantino which is American by the way leads the way in good reliable baby products.

This is a most important subject the health and safety of your little one. When you are expecting it is easy to get carried away with all the changes happening in both your lives. The womens body is going through an enormous upheaval, some people carry better than others, and for the men they have to try to get there heads around all the new changes that are coming including the hormones of your pregnant other.

Then there is all the things that you will need to buy for baby – and some of these are big items like cots and buggies so the outlay there is quite significant.

Then you need to get in all the other equipment for baby like bottles etc. and of course last but not least clothing.

Then decorate the room that you pick out to be the nursery, with curtains etc. this is quite an undertaking.

So when baby is finally here and the celebrating has been done, life will settle down as much as it is going to.

However, here is where babies safety comes in, a lot of customers tell us that they completely forget these things, like sockets, keep them covered. Lots of dangers in the kitchen so keep baby out all together. Put a gat up at the entrance to the kitchen, bathroom, stairs top and bottom if you any and of course front and back doors.

You will find countless things like this to consider.

Put away all the lovely glass ornaments and sharp edged tables, just stand back in each room in your home and have a good look around, any sharp edges, glass items get rid of these for the first few years. Experience will teach you that as you go on your way you will learn what to do.

This subject is of paramount importance. We would like to discuss for a moment the safety in every aspect of your baby. When you take them out and about they must travel in either their baby carrier all strapped in or in a childs car seat ( fitted by the experts ) not done at home by husband or partner.

Always, keep the seat belt on them even as they get older and sit on a booster cushion. Never allow them to take it off whatever the emergency. They really do save lives.

When you are in the home, please fit safety gates at the top and bottom of the stairs, at the entrance to the kitchen so they cannot get near the oven or hobs or crawl inside the washing machine. The kitchen is fraught with dangers so please be very careful and with all the noise that can be going on with microwaves etc you may not hear them.

Guards around fireplaces if you have them. There is so much to think about we do understand but it really is worth it, their safety is paramount.

When they are in the playpen hopefully they are safe. If they are in the middle of learning to crawl and walk then you must be with them at all times.

If you have delicate ornaments around or perhaps a glass table please get rid of these for the time being.

Never allow your little one out in the garden or near the front road without supervision, because there are so many dangers them falling over, or strangers taking them off.

We do hope that after reading this article it may sound like we are a right morbid lot round here, but one of our employees in the offices has a baby and she let hers in toddle into the kitchen and then pulled boiling hot water over themselves trying to grab the handle of a pot on a hob, and it has brought it to our attention that the home is a very dangerous place for babies and toddlers and you just can’t be too careful – sorry for scaremongering you but we only have yours and babies best interests at heart.

This is a most important subject obviously. Until you have a small child about the place, you probably have never realised just how careful you have to be. Making sure there are no sharp objects around. Like china ornaments or your favourite glass object. Getting rid of square sharp cornered glass tables, or maybe coffee tables made of some kind of wood, but with a non baby friendly shape. Stairs needs a gate. The front door area or garden if it leads out on to the road is also a good idea to have a gate. Make sure when baby starts toddling around that they can’t get into the kitchen with boiling pots and pans or all the dangers there are in that area. Put a gate up at the entrance to there to.

It will not take you long to adapt to the fact that you have now got to think about safety a lot more than you ever did before. Simple things in life, now become a task… but we all adapt quite quickly…

It will be worth the sacrifice, and in a short time you can bring them all out again, as baby gets older.

Next topic will be on Baby Clothes, Baby Gro, Baby Gowns, Baby Bedding

This is a very important topic which we thought we should talk about. Looking after babies and children is like walking through a mind field. There are so many aspects to think about. We would like to help out and give you new mums and dads some advice.

When you are pregnant and purchasing your basic requirements you should include the some of the following items:

1. A thermometer that goes in babies ear or mouth

2. A thermometer of mat that changes colour in the bath – to let you know the water is too hot.

3. Saftey gates for the staircase, and possibly for rooms like the kitchen – where there is very hot things.

4. A harness to put round them when they are out with you learning to walk.

5. A car seat with safety attachments. Always buckle up in the car.

6. Take away glass coffee tables or delicate ornaments around your home. Try and make sure your home is baby friendly. If you have very sharp corners on furniture make sure you are with baby for the first months.

7. Never leave a child unattended in the bathroom.

8. Never leave a child unattended in the kitchen with boiling saucepans.

9. Be mindful of the iron – it is another accident just waiting to happen.

10. Generally – you will find you need eyes in the back of your head, Basically you cannot afford to take your concentration off of them for a moment.

11. Keep a lock on the front gate and back garden. Never leave anything unlocked like a shed or gate so they can just wander into the road.

12. A baby monitor so you can hear them at all times in the nursery, or any room they are in.

We will be talking next time to you about Baby Clothes.

Enough doom and gloom – but babies safety is tiresome to say the least. Just try and be sensible and enjoy your new little munchkin. That’s all for now.
