Babies Knitwear

When we first started out – many years ago now we used to sell hand knitted items, but with the huge change in the economy, the price of wool going through the roof and how labour intensive it is we no longer sell these items we are afraid.

It is all ready made by top manufacturers now, because they offer us a discount and are so much cheaper in the first place, they also have the best styles and most upto date designs and colours available. So therefore it really does make sense you see to ditch hand made items for ready made so to speak.

You can choose from white, ivory, pink, blue, navy, red, brown and literally loads of different colours, styles, weights of knitwear from thin to thick from lined to not with hoods or without from Premature right the way through to 2 yrs old.

Everything we sell is machine washable – our aim here is to make your life as easy as possible, you have enough to do as it is if you have a baby. Reshape when wet, dry and air , maybe give a light press over with the iron if you want the item to look like new and you are good to go. A lot of our styles will not need an iron on them – they should just pop right out of the wash ready to put back on with no creases. Plus as they are made from 100% acrylic for the most part then they will not shrink and shoud last a good six onths or more, depending on how your little one grows ( this we have no control over! ).

Knitwear is a fantastic way of adding those necessary extra layers for your little one during the year. When the weather is warm we all start to strip off a bit, but then later on by the end of the day to early evening it can cool off quite a lot, so just pop a light cardy on and you are sorted.

There are so many uses for these items – to many to list really.

We cater for ones that are made usually from 100% acrylic, by doing this we can guarantee several factors.

1.  They will not shrink in the wash.

2. No need to even iron or press them.

3. There they represent great value for both you and your little one and you should get between 3 and 6 months out of them depending on how quickly your little one grows!

We have purchased in pure cotton and pure wool before. Now although these have sold very well in the past, they are not something that we carry very often.

The reasons for this are simple really.

Both of these fabrics will shrink, and will need a lot of care and attention when you wash them. This is both time consuming and fiddly for mummy, and also does not represent good value for money, therefore they are not high on our list to be repeated more than very occasionally, when an item comes along that is just so good we cannot leave it there, then you will see it for sale with ourselves, otherwise you will only see 100% acrylic.

We have a lovely selection for you to make your selection from. Although white items still seem to be the most popular no matter whatelse we choose to purchase in, they are always the sort of thing that is sold out  of first.

Now that Springtime is fast approaching us once again it get back to the layering season. As we change from Winter ( which has been the worst for over 30 years ) to the milder times of Spring then dressing baby becomes a little bit more difficult.

The sun pops it’s head out and warms things up, so you take something off then it goes back in and the clouds thicken and it rains so you need to put it back on again.

It is a difficult balance to get right, so that is one reason we suggest a little cardigan. These are light in weight, yet give that extra boost for warmth. They are easy to wsh and keep clean, you only need to buy around 3 of these one on, one in the wash and one spare.

Ours are mostly made of 100% acrylic so they are no bother when putting them in the washer. They will dry quickly and be ready to pop right back on baby – easy peasy.

We have lots of different styles for you to choose from and weights. Plus different colours as well, althoughwe have to say that white is still way ahead of the competition in the colour stakes. It seems it will always be the most popular colour.

It is still bitterly cold for the time of year we are only really at the very end of January I suppose. February is usually a worse month than Jan but this year we hope not.

We are all still wrapped up warmly in our cosy winter woolies and so should your little angel be. Knitwear is fantastic for layers and that is exactly the sort of idea that will help to keep your little one snug and cosy on the coldest of days outside.

It is no use putting them in a really heavyweight jumper as this is just uncomfortable for them and will not really be efficient at keeping out the cold. Starting with a bodyvest and working your way upwards you will find that several layers is a much better idea -  for you too as well as baby.

We have just added some lovely striped cardigans for your little one, and they are so very soft you just want to keep on touching them again and again!

Stripes, spots, gingham checks, these are all the latest trends at the moment so you will be right up to the minute in the style stakes – if that is a concern of yours.
