Advice for New Parents

We would like to take a moment to have a little discussion to all you happy expectant mums and dads out there. When choosing the equipment for your baby ( which is of course the most expensive items on the top of your list ) but also the most important, it is always wise to :

1.  Have a really good look around.

2. Compare brands and features ( i.e. buggies and cots )

3. What safety standards does the product have

4. You may be a tall or rather short lady ( no offence intended ) so make sure when pushing your stroller that it will adjust to the correct height for you. You don’t want to be stooping over to push baby around or trying to overreach to grab the handles.

5. Make sure your purchase is of a Branded product. This one is most important – we do not recommend going in for the budget lines out there on the market. Your babies safety and wellbeing are paramount.

6. The cost is crucial in this day and age – however we would recommend if the purse strings allow that you go for a middle of the road priced item. Never the bottom of the range and only if you can afford it the top of the range.

7. Think carefully about colours – do you really want to be pushing a bright red buggy down your local high street when your little one is over a year old?

8. Try to be practical – make a list before you go out and stick to it like glue! Never mind if something catches your eyes and you think you must have it and cannot live without it – trust us you can.

9. Remember there are going to be so many expenses as baby comes along nappies, milk the list is endless.

10. When purchasing the cot please do not buy second hand from a charity shop – we have heard some horrif stories where babies have actually died because of making a decision like this.

11. Save up – but make sure it is NEW….

This is only our advice and guidance and the real decision lies with you.

Advice for New Parents

We would like to take this time a bit of a chat  to everyone that is about to become a parent for the first time – or has just become one. This is a fantastic time for both of you, finally after the long wait is over your special little arrival is here fantastic!!

No doubt you are finding out how tough it is at the beginning. Sleepless nights ( definately worth it – but we are all glad when that stage is over with ). Hopefully the birth was not too much of a nightmare as every women has a different experience of these things. After a few weeks you will all 3 start settling into a routine which is critical by the way, without this it will be an utter calamity.

Babies thrive on a routine – and you will find it very helpful as well. For both new parents try and catch up on a bit of sleep when baby naps maybe! You probably have far too much to do but if at all possible, remember if you are tired and grumpy baby will pick up on this and will get irratable and fussy to.

Always ask the midwife if you have any medical concerns about yourself or the baby… it’s always best to get things checked out and not worry about them.

If you are unsure what to do about anything – especially looking after baby, a lot of people don’t realise until the baby is here just what a responsibility it is looking after another humans life. This is for the long haul sand you will make mistakes will all did, you are only human so don’t be too hard on yourself.

Make sure as baby develops that you give them fruit juice and not just a diet of milk. Simple little things that are obvious are not to a newbe.

Babies cry so don’t be alarmed, but if they get all red in the face and won’t stop then this is the time to seek advice.

Try and make sure you all get some fresh air every day, unless the weather is truely gruesome, in which case stay indoors.

Sleep, food, drink, keeping warm at this time of the year, some fresh air and exercise for the new mum and dad and establish a routine, these are all critical from then on it’s pretty much plain sailing!

Please feel free to ask any questions or concerns you have, we will try to give you as much advice as possible, especially if you havn’t got a close friend or relative to turn to.

Advice for New Parents

It is one of the most thrilling and exciting things the two of you will ever do in your lives, make another human being. However, after all the fun comes the reality. Babies are a handful and they are your flesh and blood for the rest of your life. Everything will change forever once your little one has been born.

It is a wonderful time and something to be celebrated. You will be tired, irratable and the women will get fed up towards the end of the pregnancy carrying the life you made together around but it is a fantastic achievement and you will be so happy at the end of it.

Obviously you will need to make a list if this is your first baby for all the things you are going to need for babies nursery. Also a list of all the items you will nned to start you off clothing wise.

We would not recommend purchasing too much before the baby is born. If you plan on knowing the sex of your little one we still advise caution and purchase only the absolute necessaties to get you started.

You will find you will have so much expense that it is best to add to your little one’s wardrobe as they grow. A lot of our customers get themselves all kitted out and then they find that their baby is say over 9 pounds and they cannot use the 0 – 3 months clothing they bought at all. They have to go straight into the 3-6 months sizes.

You will need quantities of most items. Bibs, hats, scratch mittens, hooded towels, vests, sleepsuits, babygowns that sort of thing but one of each will be no good at all you will need heaps of them as you will be doing nothing but putting on the washing machine and feeding and changing baby for the first few months of their lives.

Obviously you will need more items than we have listed above, but as you can see that is why we said earlier that we would advise you to purchase the smallest amount first as money will be going out like water.

As baby grows add to their collections.

Advice for New Parents

We not only strive to find you true and genuine products that a little different from the normal high street fantastically priced, but we give personal services too.

One of these is advice. There is a lot in the press at the moment about forward facing child seats. A study has been done by two doctors who advise that forward facing seats upto 4 years old are the safest way to go. In the awful event of an accident your little one is much safer and less likely to get neck, back and head injuries from sitting in a seat facing forwards than backwards. You should keep them in this position from birth until 4 yrs old.

We also advise that just like running a car everything needs maintenance. You should get your childs seat checked out once every year, just to make sure it will do its job properly if ever needed.

Never take your eyes off of the road no matter how much your little one is crying or calling for you. We do understand that you will be hugely tempted by your love and maternal instincts to turn around, but we strongly advise against.

Keep your eyes and mind on the road head – all it takes is one split second.
