Advice for New Mums
Once you have found out you are expecting, and the first few months have passed. As you progress in your pregnancy hopefully you will start to experience the feeling that you are blooming with good health. At this stage you can start to concentrate on the huge task ahead of you – preparing for the arrival of this special little bundle.
Once you have reached the six months stage we would advise that you start buying everything that you need for your little one.
We do understand how expensive everything is, and if you are choosy about your purchases you can try to keep the cost to a minimum. The first time is the most expensive – obviously. If you have more children later on you will have a head’s up so to speak in every way.
We have already covered the ground in clothing in previous chapters with regards to the quantities that we consider you will need of the basic requirements in bedding and clothing.
As regards equipment, we think it is pretty obvious, you will need one of everything to start with. We would advise not to be talked into every little thing (even though the sales assistant in the shops with try). Just sit down at home and make a sensible list between the two of you as to what you consider you are going to really need.
Then go out and purchase only those items. Try not to buy anything that is not on the list.
If at a later date you feel you really need some of the items that you had seen earlier, then you can always buy them at a later date.
With the cost of everything nowadays, and it probably always was very expensive years ago, you can always add more, but you will find the cost can spiral out of control quite quickly.
